The Dispensation of the Law of Moses continued
                                                        1450 BC
Now when the Children of Israel arrived before Mt. Sinai the Lord called Moses upon the mt. When he had made a end of communing with him he gave him two tables of stone written with the finger of God. They contained the 10 commandments. The picture here is the true picture of Mt. Sinai which was also known as Jabel El Laws in Saudi Arabia which the apostle Paul also mentioned in the New Testament. You can also find a wealth of information about this subject in the Ron Wyatt web site. Please finish this study before going to another site.
                                                   Exodus 32.

1And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him. 2And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

3And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron. 4And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt

5And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD. 6And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

7And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: 8They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt

9And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: 10Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation. 11And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

12Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people. 13Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

14And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

15And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written. 16And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables. 17And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.

18And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear. 19And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount. 20And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

21And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them? 22And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief. 23For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

24And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf. 25And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:) 26Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’S side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

27And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour. 28And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men. 29For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves to day to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

30And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin. 31And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. 32Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin—; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

33And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. 34Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them. 35And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.

Commentary here:  Afterwards God called Moses up on the mt. again.  He instructed Moses to carve out two more tables of stone. Moses took them up with him. He fasted 40 days and nights and God then again wrote the 10 commandments on the second set of tablets. When Moses came down from the mountain his faced shined because he had been in the presence of the Lord.  He had to place a veil over his face when he spoke to the people in the camp.

God led the children through the wilderness and gave them victory over the other nations. He brought them up to the boundary of the promise land. Through all the journey they carried the portable tabernacle that he had instructed them to fashion. The ark of the covenant was born on the shoulders of the priest. Long staves were inserted through the rings along the sides of the ark. The priest were to bear the arch of the covenant on their shoulders as a symbol that Jesus would bear our burdens on his shoulders.

Inside of the golden ark was the a jar of manna, a sample of  which God had fed them with in the wilderness. Also in the ark was the tables of the 10 commandments and Aarons rod that budded. The above articles remained in the ark for a memorial of how God fed them and cared for them in the wilderness.

God continued to feed them manna until they entered into the promised land.  After they entered there they could eat from the vineyards and orchards of that land. The manna stopped then and wasn't needed any more.

The manna, the rod that budded and the tablets remained in the ark for centuries. After Solomon's temple was built the ark was placed in the Holy of Holies there. It remained there until the Babylonian captivity. After that the Bible doesn't mention it any more. The ark disappeared just before the Babylonians evaded Israel and captured Jerusalem.

In the late 1980's or 1990's Ron Wyatt found the ark in Jeremiah's grotto right the under Calvary where Jesus was crucified. It had been placed in the grotto beneath the spot where Jesus would be crucified centuries later.

Jeremiah placed it there just before the Babylonians capturted Jerusalem.
The clothing of the children of Israel did not wear out nor their shoes.  He led them during the hot day with a cloud that shaded them. At night God caused a pillar of fire to supply warmth and light.  He always provided water for them.

         1450 BC

God brought them up to the boundary of the promised land within the first year of their departure from Egypt. We have covered some of the events as they traveled on their journey and below you will find some of the events that took placed there.
 Numbers Chp. 13.
Every one of the twelve tribes of Israel was to send a spy to spy out the land.

17And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain: 18And see the land, what it is; and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;

19And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds; 20And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the firstripe grapes.

21So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath. 22And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.) 23And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.

24The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence. 25And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.

26And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.

28Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. 29The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.

30And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. 31But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. 32And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.

33And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.

Numbers 14
1And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. 2And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! 3And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt4And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.
5Then Moses and Aaron fell on their faces before all the assembly of the congregation of the children of Israel. 6And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes: 7And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land.

8If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. 9Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not. 10But all the congregation bade stone them with stones. And the glory of the LORD appeared in the tabernacle of the congregation before all the children of Israel.

11And the LORD said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me? and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have showed among them? 12I will smite them with the pestilence, and disinherit them, and will make of thee a greater nation and mightier than they.
13And Moses said unto the LORD, Then the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest up this people in thy might from among them;) 14And they will tell it to the inhabitants of this land: for they have heard that thou LORD art among this people, that thou LORD art seen face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou goest before them, by day time in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.
15Now if thou shalt kill all this people as one man, then the nations which have heard the fame of thee will speak, saying, 16Because the LORD was not able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore he hath slain them in the wilderness. 17And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,

18The LORD is longsuffering, and of great mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression, and by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation. 19Pardon, I beseech thee, the iniquity of this people according unto the greatness of thy mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people, from Egypt even until now.

20And the LORD said, I have pardoned according to thy word: 21But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD. 22Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

23Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: 24But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it. 25(Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwelt in the valley.) To morrow turn you, and get you into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea.

26And the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, 27How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against me. 28Say unto them, As truly as I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:

29Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me, 30Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I sware to make you dwell therein, save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of Nun.

31But your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, them will I bring in, and they shall know the land which ye have despised. 32But as for you, your carcases, they shall fall in this wilderness. 33And your children shall wander in the wilderness forty years, and bear your whoredoms, until your carcases be wasted in the wilderness.

34After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise. 35I the LORD have said, I will surely do it unto all this evil congregation, that are gathered together against me: in this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.

36And the men, which Moses sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to murmur against him, by bringing up a slander upon the land, 37Even those men that did bring up the evil report upon the land, died by the plague before the LORD. 38But Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of the men that went to search the land, lived still. 39And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly.
40And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have sinned. 41And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not prosper.

42Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies. 43For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you.

44But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp. 45Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah.

Commentary here:  Although God had done many miracles for them by leading them out of their bondage in Egypt, through the Sea on a ribbon of dry land, providing water and food in the desert, warmth and light at night and a cloud to shade them in the day, they still doubted him.
The new testament says that without faith it is impossible to please God.

God caused Israel to wander for 40 yrs. more in the desert until all that generation that had refused to enter the land by faith had perished. He then brought their decedents back to the border of Canaan.
Joshua and Caleb were allowed to enter  because they brought back a faithful and good report. They were chosen to lead the people into the conquest of the promised land.

Moses was alowed to look over into the promised land but could not enter because he had sinned when he struck the rock  twice that provided for a stream of water in the desert. God told him to speak to the rock and water would come out but Moses, because the children of Israel vexed him, "said shall I bring water out of this rock"? and struck it twice. He took credit instead of giving God the glory.

Moses didn't get to enter the promised land but could look over into it.  Don't feel remorse or sorrow for Moses though because God wasn't through with him nor did he cast him off.  Approximently 1410 yrs later Moses was with Jesus on the Mt. of Transformation  In the New Testament Check this out.   Luke 9 24-36

1410 BC

The Death of Moses

Deuteronomy 34

1And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, that is over against Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan, 2And all Naphtali, and the land of Ephraim, and Manasseh, and all the land of Judah, unto the utmost sea,

3And the south, and the plain of the valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, unto Zoar. 4And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.

5So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD.

6And he buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, over against Bethpeor: but no man knoweth of his sepulchre unto this day. 7And Moses was an hundred and twenty years old when he died: his eye was not dim, nor his natural force abated. 8And the children of Israel wept for Moses in the plains of Moab thirty days: so the days of weeping and mourning for Moses were ended.

9And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him: and the children of Israel hearkened unto him, and did as the LORD commanded Moses. 10And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face, 11In all the signs and the wonders, which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land, 12And in all that mighty hand, and in all the great terror which Moses showed in the sight of all Israel.

The rock was a symbol of Jesus that would come 1450 yrs. later. Jesus was crucified only one once that was sufficient. Moses shouldn't have struck the rock twice. Jesus did not have to be crucified or punished for our sins twice.
Moses  took credit for bringing water from the rock. Jesus the rock of ages brings living water to those who follow him. He provides the living water of life freely to all those that are thirsty.
Jesus is also called in the Bible the chief corner stone. The rock not carved out with hands that would fall upon the kingdoms of this world and smash them into powder.
He also is the Ebenezer rock of 1st Samuel chp 7 verse 9. The name (Ebenezer) means the rock of help.
The old testament is full of symbols and prophecies that all foretell of his coming. The new testament tells us that the events of the old testament are recorded for out admonition and instruction upon whom the end of this age has come.   (that is the Christian age or dispensation).

We are warned in the new testament that every sin and recompense in the old testament was punished severely. If we sin and trample under the foot the blood and sacrifice of Jesus  how much more punishment shall we be thought worthy of.
Now here below is an  interesting set on Bible numbers to think about.
At the time of .Noahs  flood  It rained 40 days and nights.
Moses fasted and prayed on Mt.Sinai 40 days and nights

Moses sent 12 spies one from each of the 12 tribes of Israel into the promised land for 40 days to bring back a report about the land and the people that dwelt there.

Because 10 of them brought back a evil report and the children of Israel refused to enter, they had to wander for 40 more years before they could return.  They wandered a year for each day they spied the land or until all those who refused to believe God by faith had died out. Their descendents came back and were with faith and Gods help successful in taking the land.

. Jesus fasted 40 days and nights in the wilderness

After his crucifixion and reserection Jesus was see alive by many of his disciples for a period of 40 days before his ascension.

The children of Israel wandered in the desert 40 yrs.

The life of Moses was divided into three 40 yr. periods. He lived to be 120 yrs. old and had good eye site and health.    His 1st forty yrs .he was a prince in the courts of Pharaoh.  The 2nd forty yrs. after he was driven out of Egypt  he  lived in the land on Median. While  there he married his wife and became a Shepard.

At the end of that 40 period he encountered God in the burning bush and was sent by God back to Egypt to deliver the Israelites from bondage. He  finished  out the rest of his remaining 40 yrs. leading the Jews in the desert. up to the boundary of the promised land.

Jesus in the new testament sent out 40 disciples to witness for him. These 40 disciples are not to be confused with the 12 apostles.

King David ruled Israel 40 yrs and then died.

King David's son Solomon ruled Israel 40 yrs.
The number 40 is a number of testing.

There are many more interesting numbers that are repeated in the Bible which maybe we can look at later.
